Ostara marks the moment when darkness and light hold their breath in equal measure before the world bursts forth into spring.

At Weavers, we tell the story of why winter lasted so long: Idunn, keeper of the golden apples of immortality, was stolen away. The gods aged. The world grew cold. And it took the work of the trickster Himself to help bring spring back home again.

This year, Bragi, Skald of the Aesir, joins us to narrate the tale of his wife's rescue.

The Ritual

What to expect:

The Egg Hunt

Inside the story, the gods send searchers out to find clues to Idunn's fate. In real life, that means you're going outside to find a plastic egg with a rune inside. Beeping eggs and easy-access eggs included.

Your Rune Reading

Whatever egg you find, the rune inside has something to say about your season. We'll help you read it.

Cakes and Ale

Golden apples and juice, blessed in circle and shared with the community. The gods get their apples back. So do we.

Joining Online?

You'll have your own guided journey and your own rune pull. For the fullest experience, set up a small ritual space at your screen, with candles, something to eat and drink, and anything else to help you settle in to ritual. And if you want to play along with the egg hunt: hide a surprise egg somewhere near your desk before ritual starts.

The Feast

After circle, we break bread together, because that's what brings the community together.

Weavers Provides:

  • Chicken
  • Sweet potatoes
  • A grain
  • Sauteed vegetables
  • Salt, seasonings, dressings on the side
  • Tea, coffee, and water

We'd love for you to bring something to add to the table; the more people contribute, the more it becomes a real feast. But please know what "bring food" means here:

  • A dish to share, if you're able and inclined, with all ingredients clearly labeled (or fill out a card when you arrive)
  • Something for yourself if you have specific dietary needs we might not cover
  • Absolutely nothing, if that's where you are. There will be food, and you are welcome at our table.

Raffle items are on display from the moment doors open. Donated pieces, community treasures, and occasionally something special, all looking for new homes.

Tickets go on sale at 4:00pm. Drawing is around 7:30pm, after the feast. $1 per ticket

Have something at home that's ready for a new adventure? Bring your donation the day of ritual; we'd love to have it on the table.

Online attendees: We'll do a video tour of the raffle table after ritual for anybody interested. Purchase tickets via PayPal to join the drawing.

Good to Know

  • All observers participate. In WISE-ATC rituals, everyone in the circle is part of the working. Come ready to participate.
  • Scent note: We use incense in ritual. If this is a concern, reach out ahead of time so we can sort options.
  • Accessibility: Beeping eggs, roll-up eggs, ground-level and bird-level eggs. Contact us for other accommodation needs.
  • What to wear: Whatever you're comfortable in. Ritual robes welcome. So is your Tuesday outfit (as long as it's clean).
  • Ages: All ages welcome. Kids are especially good at egg hunts, as it turns out.
  • All friendly paths welcome. Seriously.
