What does a Discussion Lead do?

The Discussion Lead is in charge of facilitating our Wednesday night group discussions. That means:

• Leading Iron Stillness to open the discussion, and the Cauldron Blessing to close, both from memory
• Being familiar with the topic of the week and its accompanying handout
• Being prepared with things you want to convey about the week's topic
• Managing the active discussion, ensuring that both online and in-person participants get time to speak
• Bringing the discussion back to the topic when it strays
• Keeping the energy grounded and friendly

What we're looking for in a Discussion Lead

You must have Iron Stillness and the Cauldron Blessing memorized. You must be familiar with the topic of the week; you should have attended at least one other discussion on the topic. You should also be comfortable with being on camera as the face of Weavers online for the week, be secure enough in your practice to share your own perspectives on the topic, and be comfortable being the person in charge in a large and sometimes chaotic group discussion.

What to bring

You don't need anything but yourself! Weavers will provide a microphone for your use.

The space

Events are generally held in the library at Weavers of the Web's physical building on Center Street (unless otherwise noted in the task description). 

Attendance

Discussions are only done on Wednesday nights when there is not a ritual scheduled. Attendance is usually no more than 20.

Logistics

• Training for this role is available through Shield Wall certifications
• Make sure to coordinate with clergy about the details for each event
• A check-in process for guests is coming soon; details will be communicated when it's in place.
