📄 Feast Coordinator — Role Description

What does a Feast Coordinator do?

The Feast Coordinator is responsible for making sure the community gets fed at our events. This includes:

  • Checking on reported dietary concerns as registrations come in
  • Adjusting the size of the standard feast based on expected attendance
  • Coordinating the purchase of groceries for the feast
  • Coordinating the cooking of the feast, either ahead of time or onsite
  • Coordinating the setup of feast supplies, including labels for potluck dishes
  • Supervising as food comes in to the feast, making sure everything gets labeled with ingredients
  • Setting up dish washing station 
  • Ensuring food safety during the event
  • Coordinating the cleanup of the feast at the end of the day, including making sure the dishes used get sanitized

What we're looking for in a Feast Coordinator

You should be comfortable with basic cooking skills (our base feast includes a grain, a meat, and a couple of veggies, mostly steamed) and knowledgeable about food safety and allergies. You should also be very good at washing up!

What to bring

Weavers is able to provide everything needed for the feast, from groceries to cooking implements. Feel free to supplement with anything of yours that will make your life easier; however, beware of utensils getting added to the community collection!

The space

Events are generally held at Weavers of the Web's physical space on Center Street or at the Fenner Center's scout campground (unless otherwise noted in the task description). Outdoor events require their own special consideration for setup, food safety, and cleanup.

Attendance

Expect 20-50 attendees at most events. 

Logistics

  • For the safety of our community, all food items must be labeled with ingredients. This is a big part of your job.
  • Be aware of allergen contamination concerns.
  • Make sure to coordinate with clergy about the details for each event
  • A check-in process for guests is coming soon; details will be communicated when it's in place.
