Beltaine
Partnership
I will seek inclusion over division and love over hate.
About this Oath
It's the First of May, and outdoor rituals are full of people coming together, forming new partnerships and creating new light in the world. Sometimes there's friction when opposites attract, but here we seek to find ways through those moments of discomfort to broaden our understanding of community and "us." Here at Weavers, we are always looking for ways to draw our circle a little wider.
We address harm with accountability and repair. Healthy communities and relationships — all of them! — go through conflicts and trials, but then we heal and come back together through shared communication and understanding. Everybody makes mistakes, and everybody miscommunicates sometimes. Too many of us have experienced total rejection from a relationship or a community after something that started as a misunderstanding, sometimes leaving wounds to the spirit that fester for years. Even if somebody ultimately decides to leave our group over a conflict, we strive for mutual understanding at the least before calling it quits.
We take care with the words we speak about others. And if somebody comes to us and tells us that our words have caused hurt or harm, we do our best to understand how and why so that we can learn and grow, and hopefully cause less harm in the future.
We do unto others as we would have them do unto us, until they show us differently.
We value diversity, and we believe in the equality of all human beings. All means ALL.
What it means to us
Read what our community says about this oath
Beltaine is all about the coming together of opposites to create something greater than the sum of its parts. Usually we think about this as sex and fertility, but how much more is a whole community greater than just the individuals within it? And our community becomes exponentially stronger with every new mind and body that joins. Every new life experience comes with a new perspective, new insights, and new lessons for the rest of us to learn.
I always want to meet new and different people with an open heart and mind.
