Join Weavers of the Web for Forging the Shield Wall, a community rite exploring what it means to protect and be protected within community. Together, we'll learn simple shield wall movements, build a shield to carry home, and – for those who choose – seal a personal commitment to our shared ideals before Odin and Freya, sealed with a battle cry carried by the whole circle.
There is no single role here. Warriors train for the front lines, it's true, but Wardens are also here to hold the boundaries, and Witnesses help to keep the beat and care for others. Everyone contributes, and everyone can step between roles as they need to. The Oaths are optional; take as many or as few as feel right to you.
This rite is built to be accessible. Bring seating and use it if you need to. Materials will be brought to you if standing or moving isn't possible. ALL ARE WELCOME HERE, all abilities and all levels, no prior experience needed.
If you already have a shield and spear, bring them with you. If you do not, practice materials will be provided during the ritual for you to take home, or for a $20 donation you can build your own wooden shield prior to the start of ritual.
