Weaving the Web: Grimoire
Join us in-person or online for our weekly Community Night: an open, cross-tradition discussion space where we learn, share, and build community together. We gather every Wednesday evening for discussion, meditation, ritual nights, and more, with time to socialize before and after.
Schedule:
We start at 6:00pm for casual social time, then at 6:30pm we begin the main discussion (and stream it live on YouTube). After the formal portion ends, we usually keep the Zoom call open a bit longer for chatting as folks head out.
This week's topic: Grimoire
A witch's practice gets real powerful when it gets repeatable.
This week we're talking Grimoires: your spellbook, lab notebook, prayer journal, Book of Shadows, chaos binder, notes app ... whatever form your Craft takes when you actually write it down. As the divinatory genie says: did you write down that experience? Because if you didn't, you're relying on emotional memory, which is a notorious liar!
We'll dig into:
- What a grimoire is (and isn't): a place to record spells, rituals, recipes, experiments, outcomes, and the messy human reality of doing magick.
- Why witches have kept these records for centuries, from ancient incantations to medieval grimoires to modern witchcraft.
- Book of Shadows vs. Grimoire: where the terms come from, how different traditions view them, and why it's okay to use the language that suits you.
- Physical vs. digital: Is paper "more magickal," or are searchable notes the real sorcery? (We can debate like civilized gremlins.)
- Ethics & privacy: a grimoire is personal! Don't touch someone else's without explicit permission.
Bring a notebook, binder, journal, or grimoire of your own. If you haven't started one yet, we can help!
This is a discussion night, so bring your questions, your favorite cleansing methods, and your real-life obstacles. You'll leave with a clearer sense of what purification means in practice, and a few small rituals you can weave into your daily life (without turning spirituality into a stress hobby).
Format: discussion. You're welcome to participate as a skeptic, a mystic, or a "I have no idea what I believe but I'm curious" person.
Join options (hybrid):
- In-person: Weavers of the Web, ATC (Lansing)
- Online: Join via Zoom for interaction, or via YouTube to watch
Can't make it live?
Secure recordings of discussions are available to Patreon subscribers at the Bobbin level and above (ritual recordings at the Balanced level and above.)
What to bring (optional but helpful): a notebook, water, and a grounded body. If you're joining from home, set up a cozy ritual space (with candles, incense, etc.) so you can drop into the practice more easily.
