About this Oath
The harvest season is the time when the community comes together. It takes teamwork and sacrifice to make sure all the food is safely brought into storage before the winter storms come. In this season, we give thanks to our community for the help we've received, and promise to give back when it's our turn.
In ancient times, the supporting web of community was built through reciprocity. You opened your doors to those in need, knowing that someday you also would need someone to hold open doors for you. You feed your neighbors, knowing they also feed you, not just with physical food but with spiritual food and love.
Community is not a spectator sport. Everybody has something to contribute, and everybody has needs. Wealth and abundance are about the flow energy, not the accumulation of it to stagnation. By taking this Oath, we promise to step up when we see a need we can fulfill.
