A.C. Fisher Aldag
A.C. Fisher Aldag is a folklorist, author, and practitioner of British Isles traditional witchcraft with decades of experience teaching at Pagan gatherings across the Midwest. She is the author of Common Magick (Llewellyn, 2019) and a contributor to Witches and Pagans magazine and Llewellyn periodicals. Her debut novel, Woman Afraid of Water — the first book in the AmeriCelts series — is forthcoming from City Owl Press in 2026. A.C.'s workshops are hands-on, community-focused, and rooted in pre-Gardnerian folk tradition, bringing history, humor, and genuine craft skill to every gathering.
Long before stage productions or scripted plays, communities across the British Isles marked the turning of the seasons through guising, mumming, and ritual drama, all forms of participatory theater in which the audience becomes the performance. In this workshop, A.C. Fisher Aldag will walk you through the history and philosophy of the folkplay tradition, from Plow Plays and Robin Hood tales to the Oak and Holly Kings. Then we'll actually do one. Summer folkplays often center figures like Robin Hood and Maid Marian, and for this workshop, attendees will choose the play and take the roles. No acting experience required, just a willingness to play.
